Major John Olmsted enlisted in the Nebraska National Guard in 1940. During World War II, he served with Jedburgh Team Dudley and was its sole survivor after his teammates were executed in 1945. Honorably discharged in 1946, he is buried at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue.
